Browse GuidesHow a boutique cultural travel publisher discovered its true calling in the Middle East's extraordinary cultural renaissance.
"Ex Museum" stands for "Exclusive Museum Experiences." The name reflects our core philosophy: that every museum visit should be an extraordinary, deeply personal encounter with culture and history — not a hurried walk through anonymous galleries.
Our journey began in 2016 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where our founding team of cultural journalists and audio producers created their first digital audio guide for the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA). The response was overwhelming — travelers described it as "having a brilliant friend whispering secrets in your ear as you explore." That spark became our mission.
Over the next three years, we expanded across Latin America, producing premium guides for 26 museums in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile. Our reputation for scholarly depth combined with engaging storytelling attracted the attention of cultural institutions worldwide. The ".lat" in our domain "dubaitick.digital" is a proud reminder of these Latin American roots where our passion for museums was born.
But it was a pivotal trip to Saudi Arabia in 2019 that changed everything.
Ex Museum is founded by a team of cultural journalists and audio engineers. Our first product — an audio guide for MALBA — sells 3,200 downloads in three months and establishes our premium storytelling approach.
We expand to 14 museums across Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. Partnerships with cultural ministries in Lima and Santiago follow. Our team grows to 18 people across four countries.
We pioneer GPS-synchronized audio guides that automatically trigger narration based on the visitor's location within a museum. This breakthrough earns recognition from the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
Our founding team visits Saudi Arabia as guests of the Royal Commission for AlUla. We witness the extraordinary transformation underway — the Diriyah Gate project, the expansion of the Saudi National Museum, and the vision for Neom. We realize the Middle East is where cultural tourism is heading, and we need to be there.
After months of planning, we relocate our headquarters from Buenos Aires to the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh. The move positions us at the epicenter of the Middle East's cultural renaissance. We maintain a remote production team spanning Latin America, London, and Doha.
We launch our flagship Saudi museum audio guides — covering the Saudi National Museum, AlUla Heritage, and the Ithra center in Dhahran. The response from international travelers exceeds all expectations, with 40,000 downloads in the first year.
Expanding beyond Saudi Arabia, we launch guides for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Museum of the Future, National Museum of Qatar, and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. Our MENA collection reaches 35+ guides across three countries.
ExMuseum becomes recognized as the leading independent producer of premium digital audio guides for Saudi heritage sites. Our guides are recommended by major travel publications including Condé Nast Traveller Middle East. We surpass 120,000 total downloads and expand our team to 32 specialists.
We believe that culture should be accessible, but experiences should be extraordinary. Every audio guide we produce undergoes a rigorous development process:
Every guide is developed with certified heritage scholars, art historians, and licensed museum professionals who bring decades of regional expertise.
Narration is recorded in professional studios by experienced voiceover artists. We offer bilingual English and Arabic narration across our entire MENA collection.
Every guide is tested multiple times at the actual venue to ensure timing, GPS accuracy, and narrative flow are perfect before release.
Museums evolve, and so do our guides. We update content when exhibitions change, ensuring your guide always reflects the most current museum experience.
Our global headquarters is situated in the prestigious King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) — the commercial and cultural heart of Saudi Arabia's capital. This strategic location puts us at the center of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 cultural transformation.
